Frank Jensen’s Horseshoe Spread
This 7-card horseshoe spread is courtesy of Bent Soerensen of Aradia Academy (look them up on Facebook) and is taken from Frank Jensen’s 1986 Danish language book Tarotoplægget (i.e. The Tarot Spread).
Question: Will my ex-colleague find a job she will be happy in within the next three months?
Cards used: Regula Fiechter’s Mystische Kipperkarten
The card positions are explained one by one as we go along in the reading. That way you have the example for each position right away.
Top of horseshoe, in position 1, past influences, background, memories: Diebstahl (a theft) → My friend was laid off work, along with most of her colleagues when the call centre she worked in closed down. So her job was figuratively speaking “stolen” from her.
Position 2, present situation: Erwartung (her expectations). This is a card of waiting, waiting and waiting. In general the length of time associated with this card is around three months, but I guess it could be longer. The call centre was closed sometime in February, and although my friend has been applying for jobs, she wasn’t sure what she could qualify for and Covid hasn’t made things any easier.
Position 3, future in the area of the question: Guter Ausgang in der Liebe (good outcome in love). This is one of the most positive cards in the deck and traditionally can overturn any bad outcome in any area of life, not just love (work, relationships, money, health).
Position 4, course of action that should be undertaken: Wohnzimmer (living room). This is a card of meetings with others and discussions that are usually done privately or confidentially. They are “inside your house”, not out in the open. So having discussions or interviews with others via networking may be a good course of action for my friend. This is another time card, but points to a very quick development of 24 hours to four weeks because it’s as if the outcome was already within reach, “inside the room.” It could relate to working from home, but no “work” or money card came out to confirm this. If it isn’t about meetings (virtual or not), it might indicate possible work in the real estate field (but probably from within an office) or– because of card 7 at the end–places where decisions are made, such as the Landlord & Tenant Tribunal.
Position 5, the response of others to the action taken – their attitudes, resistance/acceptance: Haus (house). Another good card to get with this question because it shows stability and being in surroundings she will feel comfortable in.
Position 6 indicates obstacles: Hauptperson #2 (The female querent). My friend has indicated in the past that she doesn’t have a lot of self-confidence as far as jobs go. This card in position 6 confirms this; in other words my friend’s attitude or view of herself is the obstacle to her success.
Position 7 the likely outcome: Gerichtsperson (a court official). This card tells me that a decision will be made for my friend, that is, she won’t have much control over it and she may not be happy about it. (This card is mirroring the querent card.) On the other hand, because of the other very positive cards that came out, I feel that there will be another outcome in my friend’s favour after this, not necessarily for the same job, but this decision will come first. In addition, if this card isn’t about decisions made for my friend, it may indicate the type of work she will find, as in a court house or tribunal context.
September 28, 2020 Update!
Looking back at the question at the basis of this reading, some things have turned out right, and some maybe not yet. My friend did get a job within three months, but it’s not a job she feels really happy about. As I mentioned in the reading, this could be a first outcome, before a better one turns up. I was hoping that the better outcome would also happen during this time frame, though. Nevertheless, since this job is only a six-month contract, things can still change in her favour in the near future.
Another interesting thing is that the job involves evaluating mortgages and because of the still ongoing covid situation, she will have to do it from home. That seems to match up with “House” in position 5 and “Court Official” in position 7. In addition, since the job took almost three months to manifest itself, I feel that the “Living Room” card in position 4 also indicates a location rather than being a time reference for speedy things happening, at least in the case of this reading. So we seem to have two cards pointing to the home and/or real estate (“House” and “Living Room”), as well as one card indicating evaluations/a judgment (“Court Official”).
