I was expecting a parcel via Canada Post today. It was an order of four almost identical items I had purchased at less than a third of their regular price, and I was looking forward to receiving them. So I took out my CBD Tarot deck by Yoav Ben Dov to see if a reversed Tower card would show up in my daily reading draw.
If you haven’t read my previous post on the Tower in my daily draws, look here. A reversed Tower card in my daily draws usually tells me that a parcel will arrive that day.
I shuffled my cards, cut them and drew two cards as usual. No Tower yet, but one card, in this case the Emperor, was looking at an empty space, allowing me to pull out another card to see what the Emperor was looking at. Aha! The Tower! And even better, it was reversed! Yay!

A few hours later, the letter carrier knocks at my door. My parcel has indeed arrived. I dance with joy, not only because I’ve received my online order on time, but also because clever Yuri had drawn the right card (Tower reversed) on the right day.
I open the box, and … hold on a second here! There should be four items in the box, but I see only three. After looking at the bill of sales I see I was only charged for three, and that one item might be on back order. Still I’m disappointed and feel a bit betrayed by the cards. Notice that when things don’t go as expected, it isn’t me anymore, it’s the cards! 😛
Me: Hey cards, why didn’t you tell me stuff would be missing from the parcel?
Cards: We did tell you! The Emperor (card IV) is turning his back on the Bateleur/Magician (card I). Four minus one. Get it? You only get three items in this parcel.
Of course it’s only in hindsight that I could see it. 🙂
